29 May 🌝Globe at Night

Owldelle, our resident Barn Owl, loves to fly about the night sky. She also loves to sit and observe animals around her, but sometimes the bright lights of town make it hard for her to capture her prey as night is turned into day!
Our friends over at the National Optical Astronomy Observatory have been thinking long and hard about this and have developed an international citizen science program – Globe at Night. You can help scientists raise public awareness of the impact of light pollution by measuring your night sky brightness at home. Light pollution is an increase in artificial light in towns and cities, and not only affects Owldelle, but can also affect energy consumption, other wildlife and health.
