07 Oct What Animal Am I?
Hi Friends!! Thanks for having me on today. I look a bit different to other specimens we have had on What Am I Wednesday. Can you guess what I am?
I am an ungulate, otherwise known as a hoofed mammal. I’m thought to have originated in Europe, and there are now around 200 different breeds of me. My breeds don’t differ too much, although you might be able to spot differences in my fleece and physical build.
Humans have domesticated the majority of my species, however there are still feral populations. As herbivores, these populations are having nasty impacts on the native diversity of plant species worldwide, particularly native bird species
I’ve got a very distinct smell, which is caused by something called lanolin that I secrete to condition my beautiful fleece. Humans love my fleece, and some find me quite tasty too!
