The Science Experience is Fully Booked for January 2021!

The Science Experience (previously The ConocoPhillips Science Experience) is a fun-filled three-day camp at UNE, immersing students going into Years 9, 10 & 11 in science activities and university experiences.

The Science Experience takes place at more than 20 universities and tertiary institutions around Australia. Each program is designed to provide students who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating science activities under the guidance of scientists who love their work. In Armidale, the opportunity to stay at Mary White College for two nights is a draw card for teenagers finding their own interests in science, and thinking about attending university one day themselves.

The program at UNE in January 2021 will be a COVID-19 edition; with places limited to 15 students. Participants get to share in the worlds of forensic investigations, agricultural and ecological science, coding, sausage making, medical science, sports and exercise science, and more. In addition, they interact with, and ask questions of scientists from industry, academia, consulting and government in a career panel discussion that focuses on the changing job market in science and helping students identify their passions and interests in science. We hold a hotly contested trivia night, channel our inner sports star at our premier sports facility, SportUNE, and visit a local nature reserve for dinner and team activities.

Supervised accommodation is available at Mary White College at a cost of $65/night including breakfast, lunch and dinner for each night. Students are encouraged to stay on campus to get the most from The Experience, and this year we are offering TWO SCHOLARSHIPS for students from postcodes considered in a Low SocioEconomic zone. There are also ROTARY SCHOLARSHIPS available to cover registration costs.

Contact une-discovery@une.edu.au to enquire about a LowSES scholarship or your local Rotary Club and discuss your motivation for attending The Science Experience today.

Due to our limitation on numbers for this event, we are already fully booked.  We apologise to those that have missed out.  We have started a waiting list, which will be via an enquiry email to une-discovery@une.edu.au . Please include your details (name, mobile) as well as your student’s details (name, age, school).  We will contact those first on the list if a spot becomes available.
