UNE Discovery Voyager Back on the Road

After what has been a challenging year, we are excited to announce that we are now taking bookings for the UNE Discovery Voyager in 2021! But before I delve into our offerings for this year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my experience as the UNE Discovery Voyager booking coordinator in the year that was 2020.

I would like to sincerely thank teachers, educators, librarians, home-schooling coordinators and parents for your patience, flexibility and understanding. It was a hard, but necessary task calling schools to cancel your Voyager visits in 2020 due to the pandemic, and I really did feel the disappointment in your voices. But your resilience and optimism did not go unnoticed and bolstered our morale while we were effectively grounded. So, to each and every one of you, I say a heartfelt thank you for your amazing support of our program and for your understanding as we navigated a challenging year together.

So, with that said, we are excited to be back on the road in 2021, bringing transformative, inspirational and hands-on experiences to your students. We have developed and refined extensive COVID-19 risk mitigation protocols to ensure the safety of students, teachers and the Voyager team. In line with these protocols, we are able to bring two activities to your school, and run these over three 45-50 minute sessions (with two activities running concurrently per session). We are offering the following activities in 2021:

  • A Day in the Life of Soil (Yr K-10)
  • Plants, Poop and Pollinators (Yr K-10)
  • Creative Chemistry (Yr K-10)
  • Think like a Rock (Yr K-6)
  • Astrometrics (Yr K-10)
  • Power of the Brain (Yr K-10)
  • Busybots (Yr K-6)
  • Rocking through Time (show, Yr K-6)

If you are interested in having the Discovery Voyager visit your school please contact the Discovery Team to register your interest and secure a spot for 2021.
