Suzi and her Very Worthwhile Adventures

While we’ve not been able to travel about the region or further afield for several months now, you may have seen one of our non-human team members out and about. Suzi, the UNE Discovery Voyager truck, has taken on a very important role during lockdown and beyond. Her adventures have taken her with UNE Life and the UNE Medical Centre to help set up COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Armidale, Inverell, Moree, Tamworth and Glen Innes. She has also been up to the Costa Tomato Farm in Guyra and last week she was helping out the Armajun Aboriginal Health Service staff with a clinic at Minimbah School for our First Nations people. She’s been responsible for transporting all of the necessary logistical supplies – tents, bollards, tables, vests, cleaning supplies, paperwork and more.

We have loved seeing her colourful exterior popping up in various Instagram and facebook posts. She reports being very chuffed at being the only Voyager team member to be allowed on the road (yeah, she likes to rub it in!), helping to get our region on its way to 70% twice vaccinated. We were also very excited to hear that her driver has been none other than SportUNE/UNE Life’s Matt Pine, an ex-Discovery team member. No wonder Suzi has been so purringly content in such safe hands!

Onya Suzi!
