Voyaging in September and October

The end of Term 3 and the commencement of Term 4 have kept up the busy trend for UNE Discovery Voyager.

Residents of the Kempsey, Tamworth, and Grafton areas may have seen the UNE Discovery truck on their roads in Term 3, with visits to some local Armidale schools keeping the team calendar very full in between. School holiday activities at Armidale Library rounded out Term 3. In Term 4, so far UNE Discovery Voyager has been as far north as the Queensland border, to the Tenterfield and Glen Innes regions and to Guyra. We also welcomed visitors from several schools to campus, where we ran activities and conducted museum tours.

We were also involved in two fantastic Armidale Regional Council events: the Armidale Creative Street Arts Festival in late October and the Halloween night in the East Mall.  We set up our pop-up science stall for the creative street arts festival and were excited to have so many children wanting to join us to make slime at the Halloween night. We took along some special exhibits of dangerous creatures and bats from the UNE Natural History Museum.

Behind the scenes the UNE Discovery Voyager team have been busy designing two new activities to add to our offerings next year, as well as updating, improving and revamping our existing activities and equipment where needed, in preparation for even more fun and wow-moments!

Keep an eye out for our next newsletter as we’ll be opening bookings for school visits in 2026 very soon!
