Using LEGO you have at home or in the classroom, create a build that reflects one of these themes:
Anyone in Kindergarten to Year 8 can enter the challenge.
The challenge will run from 12pm on Tuesday the 19th May, 2020, to 12pm on Friday the 5th of June , 2020. Entries based around any of the above themes can be entered during this time.
Kindergarten to Year 2 category
Year 3 to Year 6 category
Year 7 and 8 category:
Class prize, where a class is no less than 60% of individuals in that class:
Simply take a photo of your build and follow the instructions on the submission buttons below to enter your creation!
Individuals can submit their builds for the opportunity to win the prizes outlined above, while teachers can enter a collation of their students individual builds for the opportunity to win the class prize.
Yes, you can definitely enter as an individual. Class entries are made up of compiled individual entries.
You can enter the challenge as many times as you like! As long as each build reflects one of the four themes, and each entry is one individual photo of your build, entries are unlimited.
No, there is no minimum or maximum number of LEGO pieces you can use towards your build. Create to your heart’s desire!
Yes, you can definitely make an entry with a friend. This will be counted as one individual entry – but you can still share the prize if you win!
No, only classic lego blocks are allowed in the challenge.
We encourage you to create your own build. Remember these must reflect one of the four themes! Your builds will be judged on originality.
You can enter the challenge as many times as you like! As long as each build reflects one of the four themes, and each entry is one individual photo of your build, entries are unlimited.
There are no limits on size – make your build as small or as big as you like!
Yes, builds are to be accompanied by a short blurb describing your creation. These are to be a maximum of 50 words for years K-2, 100 words for 3-6 and 150 words for 7-8.
Maximum file size is allowed 64MB.
Supported file types are .jpg, .png, and PDF.
Only teachers or educational leaders can enter a class submission on students’ behalf.
No, entries are open to anyone in the specified age group Australia wide.
Class entries are made of a collation of individual entries. Students can work together to create individual entries, although this will be counted as one entry. Due to the current nature of the school environment, classes cannot create just one build and submit it as a class entry.
Class entries must be made up of 60% of the class total through individual entries. For example, if you have a class of 30, you will need to submit 18 individual builds.
These are the Terms and Conditions for the UNE Discovery, Armidale City Public School and Modern Teaching Aids LEGO competition. These Terms and Conditions comply with and fall under the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
The competition will commence on Tuesday the 12th May, 2020 at 12pm, and entries close on Friday 5th June 2020, at 12pm. Entries for the competition, both individual and class, may be submitted at any time during this period.
Competition details will be announced via:
Presentation: Arrangement of pieces is appealingly presented in the product.
Originality: Shows brilliant demonstration of imagination by creators.
Use of Colour: Shows beautiful flow of colour and shape.
Product Story: Participants explain their product eloquently and the story is very inventive.
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
The value of all prizes is $2,400 AUD. Prizes cannot be redeemed for cash.
Winners will be notified by email and/or phone on Wednesday 10th June 2020. Winners will then be publicly announced via the UNE Discovery Facebook page, UNE Discovery weekly email to all those on the UNE Discovery mailing list, UNE Discovery Voyager website, UNE Discovery monthly newsletter, UNE Life Facebook page, Armidale City Public School Newsletter and other means deemed appropriate by UNE Discovery.
